Parking brake release handle spring

I guess there is a spring in the parking brake release handle that keeps it from rattling around when the brake is off. I noticed a few days ago that the handle was rattling some, and a couple days later a piece of broken spring fell from that location. Other than that, the parking brake seems to be working perfectly fine. The pedal is firm and there are no problems engaging or releasing it. So, do I really need to replace this spring, or is it probably more trouble than it is worth? As long as the brake works I don't really care. The handle doesn't bother me much, I only hear it when I go over bumps.

Probably more trouble than it's worth if everythings still working good.

It's a PITA. I tried to replace the one on my old truck, there is a rivet you need to drill out IIRC. I never did get it done, as it would have been a pain to pull out the one in the truck.

Good to know, I'm just going to leave it like it is.
