Ok so my passenger headlight went out last weekend and i figured it was just time for some new bulbs. I went and bought them put them in WITHOUT touching them and the passenger headlight still didnt work. Well come to find out when i put my brights on both of them work just fine but when i swicth them to dim it goes right back off. So my question is: Is there some kind of easy fix for this that I can do to avoid going to a shop? Suggestions? btw it is a 98' 4.0 4wd if that helps thanks for any help

 

I would try to put in the bulb that you KNOW the low beam works on the passenger side and see if that works. You could've gotten a bad bulb for all you know.

 

I tried that, after i put them both in the first time. I figured i must have touched the bulb so i swicthed them and the passenger light still only worked on bright.

 

might possibly be one of those stupid circuits.....

I had a fuse blown, that controls left side headlight and other things. I had my left headlamp stop working...ended up being a fuse that included the left headlamp.....not hte right, but just the left.

Check your owners manual as to which fuse. Check all your fuses while your at it.

 

1998:
Both high beams are on a common circuit using a single fuse (dash #33).
Each low beam has a dedicated fuse (#4 left and #8 right).

Not such a bad idea because it might keep you from losing both low beams because of a problem on just one side.
