2008 Mazda B2300 base, 5 spd, no power windows, a/c, door locks, remote entry, fob, base model. Occasionally. The PATS light flashes and no start. The PATS isn't activated? Since new, the theft deterrent light has never come on. It has never been an active feature on this truck. Code now flashes on dash 16 if you leave the key on long enough. I have used a non security key (no rfid chip) to start this truck many times. Since it's a base model, is it possible this was never activated? What might cause it to work intermittently? 1 more thing. While driving, the instrument cluster gauges have blanked out like the key was turned off, but it kept running and eventually gauges came back online like nothing happened. Usually I can get it started by attempting multiple times, or letting it sit a few mins, or disconnecting the battery then reconnecting it.
