PCM update

Hi everybody, this is my first post.

The dealer tells me they would do a PCM update for $90. It is supposed to take care of many of the issue people have with these trucks. Does this sound like a decent price?

Are you guys saying BS to the price or that they said it will get rid of the "problems"?

And OP (Cody) what year is your truck, engine, tranny, and 4wd? What are your issues? Maybe we can help.

Pinging under load at low rpms. I have done so many things to this truck to try and solve the issue but there seems to be no helping it. I set out several weeks ago and said "this can be fixed" but now I am about ready to give up. 89 octane gas does make it go away. Every time I go up a hill and the rpm's are under 2000 it sounds like marbles in the engine.

you getting any codes? Seems as if others with the 3.0 who have had this problem said that either replacing the coils, plugs, or DPFE have helped their problems.

No codes. Plugs are Autolite iridiums and look good. Its just so hard to determin though. The truck is pretty low miles, about 88,000. It has been in the family since day one and from what I know it has been doing this for 10's of 1000's of miles. It just seems to be so much worse to me now though. What funny is that I took off the DPFE and cleaned it out with Mass Air Flow cleaner and I swear it help, but then again I have done other things I thought helped some too.
