Icon7 Proud new Ranger owner help

I just traded a car of mine for a 2002 Edge extended cab. It has the 4.0L v6 and is automatic. Just turned over 113k. These are the problems I have noticed so far, anyone have anything else that I should check? ie, timing chain, valve seals, gaskets, etc...? Thanks in advance!

1- Needs brakes(I already purchased new rotors and pads for the front as well as shoes for the rear)

2- Needs a passenger side mirror

3- Needs the rear jump seats (a previous owner thought it best to remove these in favor of some sissy system)

4- Needs tires soon (I'm on the lookout for a set of wheels with good tires, if you know of some under $500 hit me up!)

depending on what part of 2002 your trucks engine was made in it might have the dread timing chain tensioner issue. it was an issue with pre-2002.5 4.0 SOHC engines in Rangers and Explorers. it has to do with the mechanical device that powers the timing chain since the 4.0 is chain timed, not belt timed.

you might be in the clear and some 4.0 owners never have a problem with it but if you start to here a chain rattling noise from your engine you need to get it fixed or risk losing the whole engine.

belts, hoses,
yea, the oil change is next on my hit list. I just replaced all the brakes...front and rear
new rotors, pads, calipers, and rear shoes...even the pins and rubber boots on the caliper brackets, haha! damn good thing I did 2 cuz the pass rotor was cracked n tearing up the pads n the rears were so bad that the rivets would have been grinding grooves in the drums in another week or so.
while we were doing the drums I was wondering if there were ways to swap the drums for disks...drums are such a pain in the "u know"!

thanks for the welcome
Wish I had looked at this earlier, I will keep you in mind...I'm most likely going to pick up a set of polished Eagle Alloys with some 31/10.5/15 Mickey Thompsons on Thursday :)
Thanks!

I'll have to check and see when it was built. Is there any recall on it...?
