Question About Keyless Entry

My keyless entry in my 01 ranger edge does not seem to work. I have replaced the batteries and reset them. I was told that it might be the module? Where is this located? Any help would be great! Thanks.

The 2001~2003 RKE receiver is the Central Security Module located high in the dash forward of the passenger airbag. Do the power locks operate correctly from the door switches?

Yeah, the power locks still work from the door switch.

So, we know that all of the PL wiring is OK and the PL solenoids are OK and that the CSM is working (with the possible exception of the receiver itself).

I would try the owner's manual fob programming again and maybe try another fob before replacing the CSM. Easier and cheaper.

Can you replace the receiver itself?

It would only work if I was real close to the truck.

The receiver is part of the CSM and it is replaced as an assembly. The white thing in the picture:

The CSM is a possibility but I still think a problem with the fob is more likely.
