Ranger Passenger Window does not roll Up or Down (Power Windows)
Ranger Passenger Window does not roll Up or Down (Power Windows)
I have a 2001 ford ranger with power windows. The driver side window goes up and down with no problems, but I cannot get the passenger window to go up or down with either the driver’s control or the passenger’s control button. Can someone help me diagnose this problem and see what part I must replace? The buttons make firm clicking noises, so I don’t think the button itself is broken, but it’s a possibility. Let me know! I will reply ASAP!

I think since neither button operates the window, you have either faulty wiring or a dead window regulator apparatus. I would remove the interior door panel and check for voltage at the motor when you hit the switch. If you have voltage there, then you know your wiring is fine and you need to replace the motor. I have done this in my car before, but not the Ranger (mine has roll up windows) so you can search online how to replace the motor. It should be pretty easy.
Good luck!

Like stated, grab a multimeter and do some testing. This is assuming all fuses are good and none are blown.
Check that you have both power and ground to the switch. If you do not, trace power/ground wire until you can find the break. Its likely a faulty ground, as a grounded power wire would of burnt up a fuse.
If verified, like previously stated, check that you have power/ground present at the motor when actuating the buttons. If you have power/proper ground at the motor, then it has likely died.
If you do not have power to the motor, then it is likely the passenger window switch is faulty. Some systems are bypass, meaning only one switch has to work. Some switches will still pass through the switch in each individual door.
If you have both, check to verify the condition of the window regulator. Some, like GM units, are cable operated. Some use a large sipper looking strip of plastic in a track. I cannot recall which the Ranger uses. Verify neither are broken or otherwise jammed up.
