Drove it home from work today and the cabin got nice and toasty so I turned the heat off towards the end of the drive. Then I parked it and popped the hood. No bubbles at all. I figured why not turn the defroster on and refire it back up and see if I get some bubbles. Turn it back on and let it run and I get a little bit of bubbles.

But is it getting hot or losing coolant? If its just bubbles, let it be imo.... If the cap isnt blowing off, car not overheating, youre not loosing coolant, youre probably good.

 

Not getting hot at all really. Sits just fine at idle and then when you start to give it gas and start moving eventually the temp does rise but its a slight increase and it never gets any hotter after that. The cap isn't blowing off or anything, I'm not overheating and to the best of my knowledge I'm not loosing coolant.. At least the overflow tank hasn't dropped but I haven't popped the cap off to actually look in the radiator but the hoses do have pressure and I can feel liquid.

 

Everyday for a week or more, before you start your truck for the first time that day, check your radiator... Not just the overflow.

 

So I checked the coolant level while it was completely cold this morning and it wasn't completely full. The coolant level was down to about where the top fins are. I topped it off and drove it around for now. I did just noticed after doing that, that I don't here bubbles in the heater core anymore when I turn the heat on like I used to this week. And I would only hear or see bubbles when I turned the heat but I don't ever smell coolant. This is very weird...

 

Bubbles are a lot worse, over flow tank is popping again and the pressure builds up fast under a cold start. Also a cold start at idle is very ruff. Tried to fill the radiator with coolant and it eventually can but its now bubbling pretty well.

This has to be a head gasket. I'm going to do the $350 rebuilt heads, gasket, and bolts route.
