I'm about at my wits end here with trouble codes and such. Many searches on the web have yielded no information for code 27 for the airbag and I have had ZERO luck figuring out what's wrong with my ABS other than it doesn't work. All of the fuses in the dash are good and I'm going out to check the ones under the hood later today.

My question is whether or not there is a programmer available that will both allow me to reprogram the computer to get more power AND read the trouble codes for ALL vehicle systems. If not all, then I need at least airbag, abs, and engine.

Any help is appreciated.

I know for a fact that the Bamachips SCT Microtuner is plug & play, and gives you nearly 10 RWHP and up to a 17 ft/lb rear-wheel increase as well.

Concerning trouble codes, no clue. You might try to E-mail Doug, he's excellent to work with.

One of the problems, Tom, is that the OBD specification doesn't require a specific set of codes for certain sub-systems and many manufacturers are different. I have new code reader software for my Palm that is better that what I wrote. We can try it on your truck if you like. Are you free for lunch today?

Many multi-vehicle scanners fall short in this ares. Also, most programmers are vehicle specific, which may or may not help them in reading these extra codes.

I may work on making my software I was writing read other addresses -- but I'm not absolutely sure it will work.

In the meantime, if you're free, I'll head down there at lunch time.

You gave me plenty of things to check out this week so hopefully I'll get to make some progress towards turning the lights off. Here's the plan:

Remove cupholders and passenger airbag switch housing and check wiring harness and module itself for any signs of stress. Unplug the module (assuming the harness isn't yellow) to allow it to reset while finding a new location for my CB transciever and rerouting the wires for my switches so that they are nowhere near the airbag module. That should take up whatever spare time I have tonite so....

Tomrrow nite I'll get out the service manual CD and figure out how to diagnose the ABS sensors. I agree with what you said that the sensor could have failed or been destroyed due to water or debris from offroading so I'll start there and work my way back as far as the manual will take me. With any luck, it will be a sensor and I'll be able to get out of this one for less than the deductable on my warranty.

Thanks for all of your help and for coming down here to try to get the codes from the PCM.

It turned out to be a bad rear axle speed sensor. $32 later, the light is out. Thanks.
