I just bought this 96 ranger xlt 4x4 auto 4.0 for my son, his first. I bought it knowing the truck would not stay put when in park. What keeps the truck from moving when in park? After taking the column out today I noticed a switch on the column that gets made when the shifter tab is moved into that position. Is this the culprit? The haynes manual electrical section does not show this. Autozone is no help either. Is it an electrical or mechancal problem? He can't drive it until it gets fixed.
