Shifting In To 4x4 Problem Need Help

When I parked the truck more then a year ago, everything worked flawlessly now that I finally got around to getting it back together and want to get it on the road
the problem comes up that the truck won't shift into 4x4. When clicking the switch nothing happens, no 4x4 dash light comes on nothing but a slight clicking sound coming from the passengers side kick panel.(where the control module is if I remember correctly?)

I'm wondering what needs to be checked/replaced so I can regain the 4x4 option back?

Does the front end engage? Or nothing happens at all?

Wait til someone who knows what they're talking about can answer. But did you check all your fuses in the cab and under the hood?

I had this problem several years back when my Ranger was still under warranty... If I remember correctly, they changed the solenoid....

The electronic shift motor that actually switches the trasfercase into 4x4?

Got it working. Turned out that the 4x4 shift motor just needed to be cleaned.

Shift motor?

where is that? Just bought a used ranger with 4x4 option. Haven't tried it yet. But if it doesn't work I will try what you did, but I need to know where this "shift motor is located at.

Its a little motor that is bolted(3bolts) to the trasfercase, I will try and get a picture up for you.

I am having the same exact problem, clicking noise but no shift. Tried replacing the shift motor but it didn't change a thing.
