Icon5 Spark plug wires

Hey y'all , yes I'm female. I am trying to do a tune up on my truck. The spark plugs wires seem to be very hard to get off and I am having trouble getting them back on, I am use dielectric grease. Someone has suggested used silicone on a q-tip and rubbing that on the inside of the boot, but not getting it on the conductor. Please help!

+1 ^^^

Dielectric grease helps seal connections from water penetration but won't cause shorts.

For spark plug boots it helps you slide on the boot, and can make boot easier to remove down the road.

As video said, dielectric grease is non-conductive, so can't cause shorts, which also means it will BLOCK an electrical connection, so you never uses it on the metal connections, just on the plastic part of connector or boot.

Spark plug boots are similar to the Chinese Finger trap.
Once installed they grip the spark plug, if you try to pull the boot off by gripping the top, as you pull it stretches the rubber and it gets TIGHTER.........

This is a picture of a boot removal tool: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....fL._SX450_.jpg

One design of many, but what they are all made to do is to slide down next to the boot and then under it, so you can pull the boot up from the bottom.

You can make your own.

Wish I'd known about the tool, I got my friend to have a go at it and he was able with much effort to get them off. I used the dielectric grease when I was putting them back on and thought I did not have them plugged in properly as I was able to pull them off. Surprise, I did have them plugged on, it was the grease that was making it easier to get them off. Thanks for the quick replies. At least the next thing on my list is air filter, that should be easy.
