Do you have a heavy duty trans cooler now? If not I would invest in one of those instead, every automatic vehicle I have ever owned has had a large auxiliary cooler and I have never had a lick of trouble, ever........

i would just buy one with a cooler as well, because they are so much bigger!!

make sure its reversable as in a pusher and a puller, because you need to push the air, not pull...

 

I was thinking about doing what you just said, is buying one that already has a fan on it. Those things are beef!!!

It's about 150 for one, so it will be a while before I get one, but I was just looking at my options...

 

yeah i want one just because a lot of times the tranny temp is what makes me turn on my efan...

when i get one im going to bypass running the tranny lines to the radiator first...

 

I think a 6" fan is the biggest that will fit the stock tranny cooler. I have a FLX 106 from Summit. At the time, I didn't have enough time to mess with rying to fit one of those big tranny coolers in there. It's not the most powerful, but it does a incredibly good job when combined with the stock fan. When I had the JM e-fan on the radiator, the little fan helped considerably, but it still wasn't enough to keep the tranny cool. BUT I think that was more the fault of the e-fan. This summer I'm going to try another (bigger) fan, in the stock shroud and see how that works.

 

As long as it turns on when the temp needs to go down. It can't harm any thing. It still goes threw the radiator to arm up the fluid in the winter. And you only need that for about 40 degrees or below.

The bigger the better. And when you controll the temp the fid lasts longer and takes longer to degrade.

I had a PERMACOOL "10 in my Centurion ad i rarely had to turn o the fan. Also it rand at a lower amperage too.

 

with 35s and 4.56s the tranny fluid doesnt need any help warming up...

 

LOL. True. But for the Canadians and upper USA citicens it makes a difference for normal use.
My old Centurion had 7.5l E4OD ford 10.25 W? 4.10 on LR-d 33s {originaly LR-E 29s} and the cooler worked for towing and E-350 PSD and its Cargo from PA to NJ.
