I have been getting this squeaking sound in the front since ive got my truck. ive replaced all my shocks, and it still does it in the front. what can it be? what are those springs around the shocks?are they expensive?thinking of replacing them, because i hate the sound. not only is it annoying, im worried about future damage. also when im goin through parking lots i dont want people thinking i have a ****ty running truck :P

 

Do you ever have the shop grease the front end for you while you got an oil change?

 

I have an 04 it squeaks too... Mine is more from the rear though.

 

Its always a good idea to grease all the points while you are getting an oil change. I always have mine greased if they are a bit squeaky.

 

never knew they did that while changing the oil....um im gettin an oil change in a week or two, need like 700 miles left till i need a change. how can i do this myself if anything?i dont even know how to ask them, can you grease my points?haha dunno

I doubt there's any grease points on a new Ranger, Ford uses those Spicer lube-for-life joints.

Mine has almost 10,000 mi on it (4.5 mo old), it squeaks from the front as well when I cross large speed bumps slowly, creep through larger potholes, or crawling through cross ditches. So far its only done it with the camper on, I don't think there's enough weight in just the truck to cause it to load the torsion bars up enough. I know for sure its the torsion bars squeaking, solely from the drivers side (right under my left foot). The rear suspension doesn't squeak, but I got it bolted it up pretty tight with the airbags. I've 'wheeled since it was brand new, 500 miles. I flexed it right out and put its first scratches on it before 600 miles. I bought it to work.

My '86 Toyota 4x4 with torsion bars did the same thing, I just always found them to be noisy. Short of redoing the torsion bar bushings I doubt it would stop, and I doubt Ford will do anything about it. I will ask when I take it in for its next service. LR

 

check the tie rod ends and control arm bushings and ball joints

 

any ideas for the rear suspension?

after every time at the dunes, i have to powerwash my rear springs, then park my truck in the street and hose my leafs down with pb blaster as if i were painting them, works every time

I have that same squeaking in my front end. I narrowed it down to the upper ball joint and ford being the freindly people they are didnt put a zurk fitting on the damn thing so I drilled and tapped it and put one in and it went away

 

I had this issue with my front end to, turned out to be the lower ball joints. Only did it when i would go over big bumps or turn.

 

hah, I use to have to do this frequently on my ranger when I lived in Oregon, after driving on the beach a lot. Pretty well painted the leafs with whatever spray on lubricant I had. Worked though.

 

My front end would squeek as well. It was the sway bar.
