Steering Rack leaking

3 Attachment(s)
Rack is leaking and i cant seem too see where it is coming from. The intermediate shaft where it enters the steering gear looks like it is leaking but the entire thing is also covered in gunk. The 4 hard lines are also soaked. Mainly the lower part of the rack is really wet. Now i have never seen this before or replaced one but it doesn't look that bad. Anyways What i would like to know are these things common to fail? And how do they usually fail..Leaking o rings, bad hose, crack in housing??

Bump. Just used break clean to clean all the crap off it. Poured some Lucas Stop leak in it. I'm in the market for a new truck. As long as I don't find a crack I'm not concerned with it.

Any input would be great

my guess is it has something to do with that huge dent you have in that crossmember lol
just replace the rack. there not that expensive. you can get them with new inners and outers too.

This.
you can cheat the Rack in without taking EVERYTHING off. normally they don't leak unless they're cracked.

The lucas stop leak works really good. That may take care of it.

I was told not to put lucus stop leak in mine when it was leaking, not really sure why though.
