Steering Rack leaking
Steering Rack leaking
Rack is leaking and i cant seem too see where it is coming from. The intermediate shaft where it enters the steering gear looks like it is leaking but the entire thing is also covered in gunk. The 4 hard lines are also soaked. Mainly the lower part of the rack is really wet. Now i have never seen this before or replaced one but it doesn't look that bad. Anyways What i would like to know are these things common to fail? And how do they usually fail..Leaking o rings, bad hose, crack in housing??

Bump. Just used break clean to clean all the crap off it. Poured some Lucas Stop leak in it. I'm in the market for a new truck. As long as I don't find a crack I'm not concerned with it.
Any input would be great

you can cheat the Rack in without taking EVERYTHING off. normally they don't leak unless they're cracked.
ps. that dents been there for over a year
I know. Im just busting your ***** lol. Sounds like a deal to me. Get new rack bushings with it too!
YUP. i'm sick of it after working on customers cars all day i dont wanna have anything to do with fixing mine. I'll do mods but working on mine usually ends up fixing 20 more things you see wrong under this hunk of crap
Is there anything on your truck that doesn't need replaced lol?
