Strange rear brake hardware

2 Attachment(s)
2010 XLT 4.0 stickshift. Took apart the back brakes at work the other day and found these odd-looking pieces attached to the upper caliper bolts on both sides. No idea what they could be. Sensors? Balances? Explosives? Alldata diagrams of the back brake system do not show the part. It has no power source and no obvious connection or function. Any clues?

I believe it would be an anti-moan type device, prevents rear brake noise, like a pulse damper.
It would have no outside connection as it is just a fluid filled diaphragm.

Thanks! Relief to know I'm not driving around with a time-bomb strapped to the truck. It was a shady kind of a dealership...

I just checked Alldata, they speak about it on my 2011, and not for 2010. :O
