now i stumbled upon this and was bothered a tad. one, i agree against dui, impersonating an emergency vehicle, etc... but i dont see why you would close a thread due to the fact that they are not a pov firefighter. now i have a full setup on my truck due to the fact that i work road side, and do rescue towing. i understand that there are people that use these devices as toys. but not just fire fighters use them ya know, how bout we keep these threads open to everyone who uses them. utility vehicles, towing, and roadside. yes there are alot of people who are not licensed to use them, but it is a great safety precaution. there are idiots everywhere, unfortunately we have to put up with them.

 

and i am just asking this as a favor, honestly you can do whatever ya want, im just making a suggestion

I didn’t read all of the entries got lost in the “I did this” and “Don’t do that” or “Close this because it isn’t right” stuff.

The main problem is that the output on any strobe system will determine the brightness of the light.
12 volts yes but what is the total current/amperage/watts output of the Controller?

Once that is determined then you can buy strobe lights that will work and may be as bright as you want them to be.

If they are LED Units, adding amperage can burn the lights out.

Find out as much as you can about the Controller (the brain) then pick and choose the light to fit.

Remember even if the unit puts out the necessary current/wattage for the lights you select there is still the possibility the Controller will burn out.

It sounds great to get something free and if all of the pieces are there then go for it but if you try to pick and choose you can end up with a POS setup, (believe me I know, not lights but none the less something thrown together).
