tach dash swap

Has anybody done a successful swap of 95-99 explorerer inst cluster into 2000 ranger "no-tach" dash? I have no tach and really want the other style cluster. I got a 2000 ranger fsm and found the printed circuit and it looks like it has several differences compared to the '01 ranger cluster that I already bought. Wonder if this can be done easily. Thanks!

All 95-04 Ranger clusters are compatible.

All Explorer Sport Trac clusters are also. (thats the one I have, nicest by far, similar to the level II tach)

All 95-01 Explorer clusters also.

As far as I know all the connector pop in and out interchangeably. The 3 different clusters I have run so far (2000 4x2 no tach, 99 expo 4x4 tached, and 01 sport trac 4x2) they have all looked different in the back but all hooked up just fine.

Same here. I have a 00 and grabbed a 01 expo one with a tach and it plugged in just fine and works.

should say 03. they changed in 04.

plug and play for 95+. 95-97 may have some issues with the water temp gauge, but it's easy to work around. only other thing may be repinning a couple wires.

Random observation, but the sport tracs in 04 and 05 had a DIGITAL odometer. I don't believe those would work. am I wrong? Are those 04-05 clusters compatible however with the 04+ ranger clusters? Those seem like they would be plug and play?

NO 95-97 clusters are interchangable......98+ the temp and tach will read off...I've done it...i didnt have a tach in my 95 and swapped it out to another 95 with a tach and its plug and play...98+ you will have to do a lil modding to make it work CORRECTLY. If you have a 2000 there wont be a prob..just wanted to clear that first part up lol!!

yes they are. if they aren't, then why do i have an 03 ranger cluster in my 95? the only thing i changed was the water temp. now, since getting the dome light to work, the "check fuel door" light comes on instead of the door ajar, so there are two wires i need to switch. other than that, no changes. plugged it right in. tach and all.

So any word on this? Are those clusters compatible with each other? The 04-05 sport trac clusters and the 04-06 ranger clusters?

i think you are missing a comma after the "NO". that maybe what is messing me up. in your first post, i read it as "no 95-7 clusters are interchangeable" when it should say "no, 95-7 are interchangeable"
