TPMS Switch Idea
TPMS Switch Idea
I would like to wire a switch into my Ranger (2011) that will allow me to turn off the TPMS light when running aftermarket wheels.
Is there a wire that I can simply interrupt with a switch? If so, where can I locate it?
Any help is appreciated.

NO, I wanted to order them from Ford for the wheels I bought but the bands are $70.00 and the sensors were $ 50.00, I didn't know I had TPMS till about 50 miles after I swapped the rims. I kept the old set for winter driving. Tire Rack had something in one of their ads about just that issue.
I'm not trying to bypass the whole system. I just want to disable the light in the dash only. I'm guessing there has to be a wire running to the gauge cluster for that light. I want to interrupt it with a switch.
There's a lot of guys on powerstroke forums that pressurize PVC pipe and put the sensors inside then just simply put the PVC somewhere in the truck. I've been wanting to try it on my 2010 but don't have the bands out of my stock wheels yet.
Again, I'm not trying to bypass the system. I just want to put the light bulb on a switch and was hoping someone might know where to find a wire for it.
If I ever get around to it, I'll take the cluster out and look for it.
Anyway, regarding the ways to trick the system: I've seen people use the pressurized tube trick on some cars, and I've seen people try it on others only to find that the sensors need to be in some kind of circular motion to read properly. It depends on the system and what car you drive.
I'm aware the TPMS is another BS government regulation, but in some (if not most) states (including mine), you can pass inspection with the light on.

I saw this at work. A 2010 fusion on 20s how ever. They jb welded the tpms sensors in a PVC pipe. They then capped both ends with a valve stem in one cap. It was filled to 40 psi. It was a cool idea.

i found a set of complete sensors with bands for a second set of wheels and tires on ebay for $160. They are original Ford sensors so they should be good. Haven't got them installed yet but i will report back when i do.
