turn signal ghost

So now that the mornings are little cooler, my truck sometimes will show the right turn signal on the dash when i apply the brakes. I let the truck warm up, and it's back to normal. WTF? It did this a few times last winter, but like I said, it didnt do it once it warmed up a little.

do you have any aftermarket LED's in your system?

In my Evo before I took the radio out I started converting the exterior and interior lights to LED. At some point I noticed that when I hit my brakes, the radio illumination would come on. When I let off, it would go out. (I'm talking about the illumination that comes on when you turn on your parking lights or headlights)

The reason why it does this is because LED's allow no back current to flow. They are one way streets for current, and draw almost no current. It is the same symptom if you took out bulbs and had an open circuit. If you have LED's this might be related to your problem, if not I would check for bulbs that might be out (it's basically the same thing)

Oh, and I solved the problem in my Evo when I removed the radio and put in a wideband gauge, oil temperature gauge, and voltage gauge (I never listened to the thing anyways)

I had a similar problem with my LED conversion in my truck (turnsignals/running lights, not brakes) and solved it by hiding an incandescent bulb somewhere where no-one can see it, but it runs on the running lights circuit)

You run into a few things that might act not as expected when you take a vehicle and convert it 100% to LED from incandescent - the manufacturer did not intend it to be used that way. Sorta like me putting 400+ ft lbs of torque through my transmission when it's designed for 300 stock. You gotta find a workaround.

I recommend you change your right brake light bulb, it is probably a 3157 Incandescent.

hope this helps.

what LED mods do you have besides the line of fire? How are things hooked up? If you are serious about fixing this then you might want to de-mod and test one thing at a time.

Put a brand new one in, same bulb as stock. 3157 Incandescent.

I have 4 leds surrounding each license plate, one on each mirror, and 2 where the stock plate light is, as well as an led plate light. all are connected to toggle switches except the lisence plate lights that illuminate it. Make sence?
