Urgent Need For Transfer Case Module

Hello everyone! I’ve got a 2006 Ranger 4.0L with the 5-speed, and I’m quite sure my transfer case module has gone bad. I’ve called everywhere and nobody nearby has one.

I’m supposed to to leave for a three and a half hour drive back home for Christmas, and the roads are supposed to be bad. I’m nervous about making it without 4WD, and I’m hoping someone here has one that I could purchase and have it shipped next day to me here in Utah. I apologize if this is the wrong forum category, please let me know and I’ll get it fixed.

transfer case module

Try Rock auto or try to order one from a dealership which should be able to get you one in a couple days if you tell them to rush it. Try car-part.com for a used one.

The part # on it is 6L54-7H473-AB, and the scrapyards all pull it up as 6L54-7H473-AA or some starting with 7L54.
I tried car-part.com to no avail. The only ones that pull up are for the 2005 behind the passenger kick panel, even though I input 2006 into the search. I can’t find it on rock auto, and the dealer wants $250 for a new one. I’m down to ordering off eBay, but I haven’t heard back from any sellers on whether they could ship it next day air.

I thought I was having the same problem however, for my ‘03 4.0L it was the transfer case motor that went bad. I ended up draining the fluid, replacing the gasket, and replacing the motor for it as well. After all that my 4 wheel drive worked like a charm. If I remember correctly it took me about 2-3 hrs cause I bs a lot in between steps lol.
I also got everything I needed off rock auto as well for a very reasonable price.

Optics — I forgot to update my post. I was successful in repairing my 4WD last weekend. You are exactly right, it was the 4WD motor that failed. Luckily it was under warranty as I had just had one installed last winter. That’s why I figured it wouldn’t be the culprit. I suppose it’s probably on me because I didn’t cycle my 4WD monthly like I should’ve. Thank you for the info though!
