Vehicle Ground locations

Can anyone tell me where all the ground/ground strap locations are on my '07 FX4 Level II? I've been having a couple intermittent electrical issues and I'm wondering if I have a bad ground.

There's a ground going from your negative battery terminal to your chassis. That ground is the right in front of it. Then there's one gong from the back of the engine block at the BOTTOM of the engine block that goes to the chassis. I just know of those from doing the "Big 3" which can be found here:

Thanks! I was aware of the couple main ones but didn't know if there was anything else around the cab area that I was missing. If it helps at all the issues I've been having are to do with the door locks and speakers.

Battery to chassis
Chassis to motor or vise/versa, usually the same wire from the battery to chassis.
Engine to body, usually on the rear of the motor.
Sometimes but not sure if in the Ranger, body to frame.

There should be some info on grounds listed in the Ford Wiring Diagrams Manual for your year truck. I got one on Ebay for 10 bucks for my 2001 Ranger. Theres usually a few to be found there. They are a huge help and good for planning your projects. Lots of info on connectors, switches, etc.

I've actually got the set for my '07 but never even thought to look! Either way... knock on wood... I haven't had any issues so I may just let it go and see if anything else happens for now!

Hi I,m having trouble with my rear lights and break lights.
I can switch on my lights and all lights come on, as soon as I touch the break peddle or put a indicator on the back lights go off and I get a high pitched squeel from a device that ive yet to find, but I beleive its coming from my rear reversing unit.
Ive tried to locate my earth straps, but as yet cannot find them.
I take on board buying a manual, which I have ordered, but right at this moment i,m stuck.
Thanks to anyone with more knowledge.

Dennis

This is in an old post but what is the info on your Ranger ? Year would be good !

Not sure when the Multi-Function Switch was used but it could be the problem.

The Multi-Function Switch is located in the steering column and controls the Brake, Directionals, Flashers, and maybe other lights too.
I had a '99 Ranger that I replaced the Multi-Function Switch in, solved my brake lights not working.

Two choices, post your truck info here or start a new Thread about your problem.

Hi Dennis - a number of years since this problem (!) but I’m having the exact same issue with my ranger thunder 2.5 - did you find a solution?

many thanks
