what size gas tank do i have?

its a 2001 edge 2 door with the 4.0, used to have the stepside (dont know if that made a diff)

and if i get a bigger tank out of another ranger should it all bolt up in the same location?

thanks ahead...

Pinecone Mar 30, 2006 06:22 PM

You should have the biggest Ranger tank. Being a extended cab 4.0. I believe its a 26 gallon. Not sure what capacity you are thinking of going to next.

HighRollerII Mar 30, 2006 06:23 PM

26 gallon..holy doo doo i dont think that much..

i got edge plus, 4.0 extended cab and i got a 20 gallon..

rngprerunner Mar 30, 2006 06:24 PM

19.5 is the largest.

I think Ryan is right, being a 4.0 Extended cab you should have a 19.5.. but I could be wrong...

jtslmn720 Mar 30, 2006 06:24 PM

ive got an extened cab and mines 19.5 so i think thats yours too.... gimme a min and ill find out exactly...

Pinecone Mar 30, 2006 06:27 PM

Lol, oops I was thinking of my truck. But yea 19.5 sounds right for the Ranger.

HighRollerII Mar 30, 2006 06:33 PM

lol yea my ranger has a 46 gallon tank..under my tool box..lol...

ive been thinkin of gettin a fuel cell..but i mean ive only seen them in SMALL size tanks like 5 to 10..i mean i dont wanna have to fill up every freakin other day

Alon Mar 30, 2006 06:35 PM

ranger024x4 Mar 30, 2006 06:41 PM

i thought i only had a 16 gallon tank

jtslmn720 Mar 30, 2006 06:43 PM

unless youve got a mutt of a ranger you shouldnt... next time your around E fill up and see how much gas you put in...

Red_Ak_Ranger Mar 30, 2006 06:43 PM

You prolly aren't totally emptying your tank when you refill, and it just seems like you have less.

HighRollerII Mar 30, 2006 06:46 PM

or let that mo run out and hitch a ride to a station and fill her up..lol

fx4me Mar 30, 2006 06:48 PM

You cant judge it by how much you fill up with. When my check gauge light goes on and I fill up I only put 15-16 gallons in.

a311fanam Mar 30, 2006 07:16 PM

eh hem, its in the owner's manual

when im on E i fill up for 17 gallons so im 100% possitive i have a 19.5, stock gas gages arent even close to be accurate after 1/4

Alon Mar 30, 2006 07:28 PM

i coulda sworn when i was on e i only put in aboue 14.5 gallons... i can try and find my reciept

ranger024x4 Mar 30, 2006 07:33 PM

well, im always poor so i put in 20 bux at a time lol

Sounds about right....haha.

krumm Mar 30, 2006 07:53 PM

^^^same here. When on empty, i have never been able to put more than around 15 gallons in the tank. I must have the 16.5 gallon tank or something like that.

jtslmn720 Mar 30, 2006 08:03 PM

http://www.motorcraftservice.com/vdi...02&vehCode=ran

thers the site with the tank sizes on it...

its hard to tell because either your gas gage is way off or you guys actually have a 16.5 gl tank for some reason....

fx4me Mar 30, 2006 08:50 PM

Nah, the most I have ever put it was 17.65 gallons (I keep a running chart). I wish the gauge was more accurate, because I'll go another 30 miles after the light goes on and feel like I'm pushing it, only to find out I have 2 gallons left.

Dangerranger01 Mar 30, 2006 09:02 PM

Hey, all extened cabs are 19.5 and regular cab long boxes are also 19.5. Only standard cab standard box are 16. When you are on empty and your light goes on, there is at least a few gallons left. Remember a while ago, people post how much was left when light goes on, it varied a lot.
