What type of connector is this? DRL or Fog?

I have a 99 ranger 4.0 super xlt.. its a beauty. Inherited from my grandfather.

I have NO clue what connection this is. I have a Factor DRL switch in the cab by the radio.... is this the connector for it? Truck was in an accident once upon a time.. the DRL's or fogs are not there now for sure. Anyone have a recommended kit that would be good for a rookie to add here? Thanks for the help!

Turn on the switch and see if you have power to the Connector, try off and on just to be sure one way or the other.

If the DRL switch didn't work then try your fog light switch.

Quickest way !

Weird. Okay, yeah that switch is exactly what I have inside, and it even lights up when pressed! Where would the connectors be in the front of the truck likely if they are still even there? As user DEWEY stated, the connector I posted a picture of is definitely an Oxygen Sensor connection that isn't attached anywhere lol. I do not see any other connectors underneath but it might be tucked away or hidden?

I can't tell for sure, but your picture makes it look like it's right below the radiator, right behind the grill.

There wouldn't be an oxygen sensor connector there, my guess is it is for your fog lights.

To eliminate the Switch situation... check the connector for power with the ignition off and on, then with the Fog Light Switch Off and On; if there is any power in any pins write it down, when and where.

Now the switches are out of the way !

Had a look on my '99. It is the fog light connector. The connector/wire next to it is the ABS sensor.
There is one on each side of the truck.
Note that you will have power to that connector when you switch on the fog lights AND you are in low beam.
On my truck, the fog lights are switch off when I flip to high beam.

Does the power work the correct way with the switch ? I'm thinking the Fog Lights are a ground activated circuit !

If so AND you get Fog Lights other than OEM, or even OEM, run a new Fused Power Wire through a really to the lights, this will allow the full power to get to the lights and they should be a little brighter than through the OEM Harness; use the existing Fog Light Wiring to control the relay.

Also, there is a mod for my 2003 to make the Fog Light stay on with the high beams, I bent a pin in the Relay that allows this to happen, There should be some sort of How-To to take care of that for you too, if you are interested !
Positive side: It makes a difference with the highs on and the Fogs, fills in near the truck.
Negative: It maybe against the law in your area.

Also, Buggman, has a Harness, that he used to sell, that attaches to the OEM Fog Light Harness and adds a Relay to the system. If you are interested in aftermarket Fog Lights and retaining the OEM Switch... it IS the way to go !
