What's the difference between a "DC" and a "DE" GEM module for 99-03?

2000 Ranger 2.5 4x2 5 speed with speedometer problems. Gonna try replacing the GEM module so I ordered what was listed as a XL5T-14B205-DE but when I got the item it was actually XL5T-14B205-DC. The parts seller offered to return it but he "promises" that it will work. Does anyone know if that's true? If it's the same part, or if it works the same then why would there be 2 different part numbers for the same generation of truck?

These fit 99-03 models and there are, I believe, 4 different part numbers for the GEM module.
