I know they will bolt up but do the sockets match up? Didn't they lose a turn signal soon after that or somethin?

 

The tail lights from a 99 should work just fine for you. They changed them in 2000 to have the blinker and brake light as the same thing.

 

Speaking of which, my Dad needed to borrow the tailights from my 99 for his 2000 to pass inspection because his were cracked. When we went to make the switch, we saw they were wired up differently.

 

Sorry about bringing back an old thread, but what would be involved with swapping tails in a '94 and an '05 Edge? Do I need to swap harnesses?

 

the 94 is a 3bulb setup and the 05 is a 2bulb setup

 

You know to make the two bulb tailights work on a 3 bulb truck you could use a converter made for wiring a trailer. The converter will combine the brake and turn signals and then just use the sock wiring for the reverse lights. A converter is like 12 bucks from an auto parts store.

 

Yeah, the converter is the easiest way to go from 3 bulbs to 2, to go from 2 bulbs to 3 (likeI did) you have to run 3 new wires from the cab back to the lights, one for each turn signal (splice into the front turn signal wires) and one brake-only signal (splice into the 3rd brakelight wire.)

Well I just found out it's not a rental truck, so I don't think he's gonna let me swap them now. lol

 

Because I like the way the 98-99 taillights look alot better than the 01-05s that came on my truck.
