window trouble

i've had this window problem for awhile now and now its really annoying me.
when i put my window up it goes up almost all the way but then stops and makes a sound (window motor i think) dadadadadadada noise. it doesnt close the window all the way and leaves about a quarter inch gap from the window closing. i've had the door panel off twice before. i lubed the track up once but did nothing. the second time i tried to look but can barley see anything. i think the motor is tired. any ideas???

Bumping this up as I have the same problem. Observations I have is my window will do the same thing if I push it up the rest of the way or hold it forward while running it it will go all the way up. but will not come down (motor is running) rock the window back a little and it goes down.
I am leaning more at the lift mechanism then motor, does any one know what parts come when ordering the mechanism without motor, just motor or do we need everything

Well after taking my door panel off for the 4th time I have found the problem (most likely haha)

it turns out that i need a new regulator for the window. i found the teeth that run through the window motor, at the very end its it completely stripped which prevents it from running though the motor thus the noise and it not wanting to go up.

here are some pics. sorry if they're crappy. i wonder what would of caused that.
now its ebay time

Did the new regulator fix your window problem.

I haven't had time to replace it or even order a new regulator yet due to work this week and fixing the ranger with other problems. I was leaving a job site in NY and my check engine light came on and 2 bulbs burnt out in my dash cluster at the same time. Luckily the check engine was only a bad dpfe sensor.

i was going to say the gears are stripped out. new regulator for sure, and possibly the gears on the motor.

Well hopefully everything is fixed on your truck now. I need to get my window fixed. I just got done having a front differential seal put in. Plus I've been working too.

Well I put the new regulator/ motor in today and everything works better then new!
Here's some pics. I had to use a grinder to get fords stupid rivets off. And in the 2nd picture u can see on the old one all the way to the left that there is no teeth left. So everyone who is having this problem check out your regulators.
