does someone have a diagram for this? i made my own harness so i dont have a harness from kc or anything like that. thanks in advance.

 

Are you saying chop the stock fog clip of and splice wires into new lights?

IF SO: I bought aftermarket lights mounted them on front bumper and chopped off the stock fog pigtails and spliced, soldered, then wrapped em in tape.

 

no i have factory fogs and i have a set of kc's on light tabs, the factory fogs r wired into the parking lights, independent of the oem wiring. I want to wire the kc's to the oem fog light switch

 

I've got a How-To either here or on FRF(or maybe both-I don't remember). Step-by-step install with pics.

thanks mike, however it looks like you wanted yours to function with just low beam if i remember correctly, i may be wrong as i hvae looked at a lot of threads. I just want me to function with the switch. also i was thrown off on your wire colors as i dont have a kc harness. i think if i had what colors are for on on your how to that would help. thanks.

 

Mine are triggered by the high beams--If you want them on all the time (hi and low beams, or just parking lights) I'd trigger the relay with the parking lights instead of the high beams. You are planning on using a relay, right? I wouldn't recommend just wiring them without at least your parking light circuit as the relay trigger---you'll run the risk of accidently leaving them on and killing your battery if they're wired only thru the switch-plus the OE switch isn't rugged enough to use without a relay-you'll burn something up.
I didn't use the plug from KC--I cut the plug off and used the wire from the kit and used all female crimp terminals with heat shrink and dielectric grease--all of your hook-ups should be the same as the How-to except for your trigger wire (Step #9)--you'd be using the parking light wire. Get yourself a wiring harness from the auto parts store (it will make your life much easier) and follow the How-To---wire colors will be different than mine, but it should still work OK for you. The real trick is labeling your wires so you can keep track of where everything is going.
OR YOU COULD JUST CONTACT BUGGMAN FOR ONE OF HIS HARNESSES.

Yes I will be using a relay. The story is that I already have them wired up to a switch in the cab but it gets in the way and I decided to switch to the stock fog switch so I don't need a harness

 

Gotcha--
I think that you'll still need to do some re-wiring if you're going to use the OE switch. The OE switch doesn't have (and can't handle) full current going thru it--it's merely used as a trigger for the relay. An aftermarket switch can handle the load, but OE will go POOF.

ok so i got all wired up but decided i dont like it how it is. i usually turn my parking lights on during normal driving because they r hooked to the oe fog lamps. and once i hooked this up, when i turn my parking lights on the kc's r on no matter what. even if i push the switch off. i want to be able to turn the kc's on independently of any lights so what should i hook to?

edit: also wondering if using a different amp fuse affects the set up? for example i currently have a 10 amp fuse in the inline instead of a 5 like mentioned on the diagram.

 

mod complete, using a 10 amp fuse unless i hear otherwise, ended up tieing into high beams.

 

what is the buggman harness?

 

Plug-and-play wiring harness to run aux. lights using an OE foglight switch. He does great work-I have a bunch of his LED stuff. Great products, great service, great guy. You can go wrong with any of his stuff. He started making his harnesses like 2 days after I installed my lights.

so when you activate your factory fogs using the headlight switch, your aux lights come on in addition to the fogs? (all or nothing)

 

You have a different set up than us. We have a separate switch for factory fogs on our dash.

 

ok so i have a problem with this set up. I wired them into the gray and orange wire, which i thought would turn them on with the high beams. But now, anytime i turn the headlights on they are on. when i flip the high beams on they are still on, the only time they will turn off is when i flick the high beams on. whats wrong ?

My wiring kit bypasses all the OEM wiring, allowing you to turn your fog lights on/off independent of the headlights, hi/lo or parking lights. As long as the key is ON or in ACCY, you can turn on the fog lights.

I use OEM wiring connectors to connect to the OEM fog switches & include my detailed install manual along with crimp connectors & pretty much everything you need (except for the tools & some wire to go to the lights themselves)

This eliminates any issues that come with the OEM wiring & any issues of hi/lo beams making the fogs go off.

I'm using 3 of my kits in my truck: one for oem fogs, one for hella's & one for my extra reverse lights. I can turn on one, two or all three in any combination any time I want.

The install is pretty simple too, just a couple wires to tap in the cab, one wire runs through the firewall to the new relay, power & ground to the under hood relay/fuse holder & wires run to the lights.
Every wire is labeled as to where it goes & corresponds to the install manual to make it as painless as possible.

Most guys say it takes less than 1 hour to install, even less if you're familiar with the wiring in the dash or have a test light or multimeter.

 

I used only one relay in my setup, and the lights come on with the running lights, it doesn't shut off with headlights or high beams.

 

i guess i have something wired wrong, because i had mine wired with parking lights originally. the problem with that was that anytime i had parking lights on, the fog lights were on too, and now the high beams, i really just want the switch to be independent of any oem lights.
