Driver power mirror

2005 Ford Ranger Edge 3.0L My power mirror glass on the drivers side became dis lodged from the mirror housing and will not operate with power controls. I close the door each time I have to re adjust it manually. Is there any info how I can reset the glass mirror back to the motor mechanisms?

From my experience, the glass usually snaps in a cup on the motor, that holds it in place and it works.

IF the mirror popped out of the cup, maybe it can be popped back in.

IF the connecting parts have come loose from the mirror, you will need to clean things up, re-adhersive the mirror to the connecting part.

IF the parts have come loose, before cleaning things up, mark the location of the connecting part so you can get somewhere near close to the centered position.

I just popped the mirrors out of a set of '06 Powered Mirror, I am changing the glass and installing the '06 Mirrors on my '03 EDGE, and unless something broke it should clean up and snap together.

Scrambler, I believe you are correct that the mirror became diis lodged from the cup. The glass is still very intact to the mounting parts. I wanted to asked here before I may cause further damage to the mirror, housing and motor. Likely cause is allowing others to use your truck and they do not realize the mirrors are electric and force the mirror manually. I will look further in applying pressure with a cloth and see if I can get it connected correctly. Thanks for the reply.

If things are loose, remove the mirror and take a look behind the mirror area.

See if something else is broken like one of the clips that hold the mirror to the motor.

I think you may be right on pressure being applied and the mirror popped because I was surprised by how little amount of force was needed to remove the mirror glass on my mirrors.

Good luck, post what happened and how you fixed it, if you take pictures a pic or two is always welcome.

Ltr

p.s. Is the motor working ok ? Good policy to check thing out before reassembly.
