If you want to remove nightshade off of your tails without worrying that you'll melt them using aircraft stripper, paint thinner or whatever, this is the easiest way to do it. I figured I'd try it out since my tails were already ruined with night shade plus I realized its really gay.

Enough of my cool story, onto the how-to.

Stuff you'll need:
- A can of Citristrip
- Paper towels or a few rags (some wet, some dry)
- 2000 grit sandpaper
- Gloves (recommended unless u want your hand to look like you have liver spots)

Optional:
- Beer

Here is what I started with




Spray the Citristrip on the tail light and make sure you cover every spot where the nightshade has been applied. Let it sit for 5 minutes to do its job.


After 5 minutes, your tail light will look like this


Grab your dry paper towel or rag and wipe off the gayness then use a wet one to get the rest of it off.

My tail light looks scuffed up because I had scuffed them before "redding out" the tails with duplicolor metalcast before applying the nightshade. You can polish the light if you want to keep it stock but I'm going to scuff it up more, red them out again and leave them alone

 

Method works great, my tails were darker than his and it took them off easily. I used krylon fusion clear too and nothing would touch the stuff. Tried paint thinner, goof off, gasoline, ez off oven cleaner, xylene and none of it did anything. It's a pain in the *** to get it all off but it's worth it if your tails are too dark or messed up

 

I just did this to my lights on my car. This works AMAZING. Thank you so much. It was a life saver. i had to apply the citristrip more than one time but it worked great. they look like the OEM tailghts. Now i can sell the car. Nothing else works. This stuff is the best. Thanks alot.

i made this almost two years ago before you were even a member and it would be more of a hassle and cost more to ship my tails, not worth it lol.

great write up, Just did this earlier today with the same stuff it took off the night shade very very well. my only problem now is that when i take a wet cloth to the surface of the tail lights to clean them off i am left with a streaky white substance all over which i can't seem to rub off, only with water but then it will come back, also the headlights are now dull. I was thinking of spraying some clear coat over them or wet sanding. Any suggestions would be awesome considering i am trying to get a ticket signed off

 

You prob left it on too long. Get some meguiars plastX with a polishing pad and use a drill. It will come out good

I always use vinyl wrap to tint my tails. It works great and is very durable. You just need a lot of patients with stretching and working bubbles out of vinyl. You can get the wrap off eBay for about $10. And it's easier to remove!

 

Someone suggested that to me, I wouldn't mind trying it with a light tint.

 

I'd prefer lathering my tails in manure before altering the lens at all lol

I just scrolled up and realized I didn't post my attempt at this.

I tried this method, it completely ruined my tails. I'll dig through my computer to see if I saved the pic. It was horrible, I don't know what was different with mine.

I don't mine tinted tails that aren't dark, there are so many shades that I can't hate all of it.

 

Beard has the only set ive seen that looks good. I did a light tint on mine but when it dried it looked black lol thats why now, only modded or stock tails for me.

 

After my experience with nightshade, I think that tbe best way to strip it off is the method that involves a barrel and fire.

 

I used acitone (sp) on mine.. didn't let it sit on the tails. poured the acitone on a rag and wiped the niteshades off. worked great
