2004-2005 Ford Ranger Seats

I am looking for a bench seat for a 2004 on up Ranger Edge? What would you guys suggest? The seating has been far improved over the 2003 and prior editions. I thought about finding a hungry New Car Ford Salesman....you know the hungry type.....throw him 400.00 bucks and let me take a nice test drive.....you know a lengthy nice test drive. :D

Covert = swapamaroo.....

That's highly illegal, but I've thought about that myself

The best way is to rent a Ranger from Budget, then take it home for the swap. They rent them for people to use as cargo haulers, so they seats don't stay clean for very long. If you clean your seats up before the swap, no one would notice.

Of course I never said that, as I was never here

Probably not the Edge, but my local one did have few XLTs. Most are fleet purchased XL's with plastic seats.

Of course I never said that, since I'm still not here.

ew, why would you want the new seats? i hate mine. i wish they still had the old style in the 04s. far more uncomfy than the old ones...but thats just my opinion not to mention the overly large head rests block the drivers view from seeing out the back passanger window.

in 04 they made the bucket seats a little taller, BUT they didnt think it all the way through! on the regular cabs, the seat rests against the back glass. my wife has popped out the rear windshield twice so far, but ford seems to have gotten it fixed pretty good this time around

The new seats are the worst I have ever seen in a Ranger. I would trade to NOT have them if I did have them.

i agree, the new seats in the 04/5s are like sitting on friggen bricks and makes my legs ache. the seat back is to high and they are just uncomfortable. give me my well worn in 1993 f-150 full bench seat that feels like a couch...now that is a seat.

Got a kick out of the guy over on ORR that traded his seats out of his truck before trading it in just to get rid of the '04+ seats! What a PITA! Ford sure seems to know how to put a monkey in the works, don't they?! ... But then, don't we all?

I have to say that my seats (the buckets in my '03 FX4 LII) are great. The seats were actually a large selling point for the truck, something I'd never thought I'd worry about. I was shopping for a truck w/ a bench, but bought my truck after just one ride 'round the block..

I actually like the new seats. Less initial comfort, but better support and comfort on long trips. The higher head rest is a good thing. While it blocks visibility a bit, it's better protection for your neck if you get rear-ended. I still need more side bolstering because I probably take my corners faster than I should. Ford also ditched the torx seat bolts and just went with hex bolts in 04.

The only reason I bought the 04' over the 03's on the lot was because of the seats and guages... I was torn between the two different grills and hoods, but the new seats are what won me over...

Is this a bench vs bucket thing? Because my '03 has hex bolts. I just trudged outside and verified..

The '04 seats I have ever sat in have been rather hard, and the angle of the headrest has hit my head many times. It's kinda like I have to lean forward while sitting in them, and that isn't comfy for someone of my height. My Level II seats in my '03 were perfect. Supportive, Cushy and nice. I like them better.

I've had both style of pre '04 seats and test driven several '04's. IMHO '03 a older sport buckets are byfar the best more comfy supportive. Even the '03 and older split bench which I hated are softer better than '04's. I think the fabric for 04 is better than previous years but the support of the seats suck.

I'll trade...don't know if you would like my seats though...they are the vinyl ones. They are flat as a board. :D Suprisingly, they are more comfortable than they look, but not as comfortable as the seats in Edges and XLTs. '04 seats would be an improvement in my truck, but what I really want are some cloth buckets from an '01 or older Explorer.

My seats are very comfortable but they are also unique. :D
Pictures of the leather buckets and full console sold me on that upgrade.
I was very glad to have gotten them, plus the cranking stereo.

At first the head rest was too close but I found raking it back more made it %100 more comfortable.
I have grown acustomed to the block of rear view and find that the very dark tint hinders me more at night than the seats.
Also it is harder to see back over my left shoulder due to the wide B pillar of the 4 door - that has nothing to do with the seats though.
All in all I have almost all highway miles on LIL BLUE (excepting off road) and the seats have broken in nicely and are quite comofortable.
I fitted some spongey ties to hold terry cloth towels over them in the summer.
