I even used the holes from the ashtray mounting to mount my CB. (just had to make some extra holes in the CB mounting bracket with my trusty Dremel) but it looks clean and it's not in the way.

I lost one cupholder by doing it this way but I am very happy with it, I wanted to mount in on the roof of the interior but I am too worried about a saggy roof, YUK!! Blades

How do you like that 1001z? I'm torn between getting that one or the Uniden PRO520XL. I like both for their small size.

Have you seen the Cobra DX4? It's about the same size as the 1001z, however I think it's got less options, just volume gain and squelch, plus 9/19 and PA buttons, which is just about all you really need.
