Center Console

I was wondering what I should do about my center console. When I bought it, the previous owner had broken off the armrest part of the console and tried to repair it(poorly). So ever since I've owned the truck I've just dealt with having a detachable armrest. Now I want to either fix it, or buy a new console.

This is my console:

I was checking around on ebay and found this armrest which seems to be the right one to replace my broken one...is it though?

Is it worth buying the new armrest to replace my broken one, or should I just go out and get a whole new console for it? Thanks.

I don't think that Ebay one is what you need. It is an actual lid to the console of an X. You need one that it just the long armrest thingy.

you just need the whole plastic underside of the armrest as well as the mount, you can get those parts at the dealer, or can get lucky and find one online

I think I need a whole new armrest as the bottom side of the one I got now looks pretty torn up. I don't think i could just get the plastic underside, I could be wrong though so here are some pictures of it.

Yeah, and I see now that the explorer console isn't the right one.

Oh I see, yeah it looks pretty bad.. well there are grey armrests on ebay every once in a while, so the entire armrest and the mount that sits on the console itself is what you need.

Yeah, last time I headed over to Canada I got my truck searched by Immigration. I think they thought I was hiding drugs or something in that armrest as the second they found out that it disconnected they were all over that with flashlights and whatnot. How hard do you have to be pushing back on the armrest to snap it completely off, sheesh.

I got one replaced under warranty and the cheap platic backing plate snapped two weeks later. I think I'm gonna fab up a metal backing plate. Lazy Ford engineering...
