mine is from an 01....and actually...believe it or not, it bolted right up for me. I took out the cupholders, cut my seat, etc (got everything ready) and it slipped in. There are two rivets that go into 2 holes in the dash. It works out very nicely. I took measurements for drilling from there and then I just pre-drilled my holes for the screws and screwed her in. She holds perfect...if i can get some pics I will.

I would try to get a 01-02 (i think it is) the cupholders IIRC changed around and I like the ones that I have...

heres mine anyway

i can get a pic of the rivets if you want..it will take like 5 mins

just so ya get the big picture

it's the rivets..not the bolts, i stole the bolts from that computer looking thingy right under the console...i hope that wasn't bad they fit perfect with a little finesse

again, it's the ones on the outer edges (in this pic, the one on the right)

if you have any other questions, let me know. It fits perfect and it's a perfect template to drill holes and such. I was trying to get the console to come out...but i locktited the bolts...sorry man!

My console is from a '98 or a '99. The front of mine went in the same as Rickey's, I used screws instead of rivets. I also couldn't figure out how to mount the back part of the console so I went to Home Depot and bout some metal angles(I think they are supposed for wood), but I attached those to the bottom of the console and the side of the hump, so I have a couple of screw going throught the floor.

Did you look on eBay for a console? Thats where I got mine.

Explorer Center Console or Explorer Console You know what is needs to look like so you won't get the wrong one. I think the years are from '98-'01.
Also I forgot to mention I where I mountd my airbag on/off switch, See picture below:

I just looked on eBay and didnt see any grey consoles. I was going to put my airbag switch on the side where there is a cig. lighter but the wire is about 1" to short. I zip tied it to something under the dash so if I ever need to acess it I can
