I haven't been able to get super active on the boards yet, haven't even made myself an introduction in the forums or set up any of my stats, but I'll be working on it. I've been doing a little interior modding, painting, etc.. and here is what I've done so far..

- Explorer Buckets (without holes) both power, manual lumbar (dyed to match"
- PIE adapter for IPOD (charges/plays same time)
- Explorer Console (painted) Modded for ipod
- FX4 Manual shifter and boot
- SILVER gauge cluster, not white :)
- Explorer bezel, painted with 2 cig lighters and 2 fog lamps buttons (for later)
- Auto Page 525 LCD 2 way remote alarm
- Explorer OHC

I LOVE the Ipod with the stock stereo. It sounds incredible, charges my Ipod, and does not hinder my cd player. It works amazing. I can still completely open my console cubby, and since the wiring is behind everything, it's very clean.

I have some pictures I took along the way I might post later in the thread if anyone is curious to how I ran it/my wiring. I have it wired so it only will charge the IPOD when the car is running. I can retract the cord in and out of the armrest holder up to about the first cupholder. So while driving, I can flip the armrest up, grab the ipod, and bring it closer to me, then the cord will push itself back in and I can reset it on the velcro!

So thats an 02 ranger? extended or single cab? The seats in my single cab need to be replaced. Id rather do the two bucket seats from the explorer like you did. So that center armrest console is from the explorer too? How did it fit? Id rather have this than the split bench seat. looks great.

The LED is for my alarm.

The seats and the console are both from the explorer, They fit great. This is an extended cab. Ill get some pics up of the exterior too.

I will shoot a vid later, to show how the IPOD is integrated, and how it all works. It's great :) I'd love to help anyone attempting anything simlilar. I'm happy with the way everything turned out.

what kind of paint did you use?

 

I used a few different colors, for a few different things.

Used Krylon Fusion for the black, and used DupliColor for all the silver/gunmetal trim!

What year/model of Explorer was it the seats came from ? Looks great !

Also, if anyone is interested check out the “US Spec” iPod Adapter for rangers with the 20-pin Connector in the back of the radio.
This one plug in to the connector and allows full control of the iPod from the Radio as well as from the iPod and there is a second Aux-Input for things like a slot Radio or Sat Radio or other players with 3.5mm plug or RCA type connectors; two devices for the price of one.
My wife got me one for X-Mas but insists it has to be under the tree; I asked if we could just use the box under the tree... NOT !
I will let people know after X-Mas how it worked out.

 

Haha very nice scrambler. We all can't wait to see how it works out. This set up was cheap and sounds CD quality, so I have a hard time complaining. Being able to control functions through the CD player would be very nice tho. Thats a good find.

Seats were out of a 97 2 Door Explorer, any explorer seat from 1995 from 2001 will fit in your ranger. I really love the seats. I got the one with manual lumbar and power options. Ive read that the air pumped lumbar seats often blow air bags or pumps, so I decided to stay away from those. The power options are great, you can move the seat tons of different ways to find the best comfort. I think I will pull out the driver side seat out again in the rear future to stuff some foam on one end. It seems to be worn down a bit. If you would like me to take pictures, or anything please let me know. I want to help!

I do have an extended cab, that saved me a little headache, but many others with single cabs have done the mod too. You just have to take your seat brackets off your current seats, and put them on the replacements. You don't have to worry about them not fitting, they will. You can also go to a junkyard, find a another single cab ranger, and take the bracket off of it. That way, when you find the explorer seats that you want to use, you can put them on and not immobilize your truck.

I didn't get lucky on the seat color, those seats actually used to be the light Grey from earlier years. I ordered leather dye and dyed the seats. They turned out great, and they have a selection of colors, even manufacturers colors. It's stupid proof, and really easy. So don't let the color kill your dreams if you find a good price for a good set.

I ran 14 gauge wire, with a 25 amp fuse. Then tee'd off to each seat. The wiring is cake.
