Does anyone know if swapping my climate controls in a 2002 ranger, with one from a 01-02 explorer/sport trac is possible. If so is it just a plug and play type swap or are the harnesses different. Any insight on this would be helpful.

 

I have a set of 02 controls if yours are no longer functional. It should be the same setup, unless you are referring to the EATC.

 

Im not talking about the eatc, just the stock climate controls in my ranger. It works just fine, i just like the looks of the silver faced controls out of explorers. Has anyone done this before.

 

You need to check what kind of blend door control you have compared to the one that you want to install. Most Ranger/Explorers have an electric motor that controls the blend door from the temperature ****. A few years have a push/pull cable arrangement instead - 2002 Ranger might be one of them. They look the same until you pull the panel.

 

ok thanks, ill have to look into it a little more. I was hoping it was just a plug and play type mod, but it probably isnt that simple.

 

I have a 97 w/ a silver climate control from a sport trac... plugged right in... too bad one of the ***** broke... lol

I've seen a member on here has the EATC (which I believe is the electronic version of the Expo HVAC unit) and I like the style of it. There are only a million on eBay and I was wondering if the member who has done this had a how-to or could answer a few questions about the swap. I'm guessing it's not just a direct swap for plug-and-play action.

Any info on this?

 

im pretty sure u have to have the expo 5.0 to use that part

Not an easy mod.........sounds like a 10 on the Mod scale.

I'd call it an 8 out of 10 on the mod scale. There is quite a bit of wiring and you do have to pay close attention to make sure that you pick the right options for the year of your Ranger and the year of the Ex donor. The length of the How-to actually makes it look harder than it is because John was extremely thorough in its presentaion and it covers a variety of combinations. If you read through it, there is almost no fabrication involved. The most tedious part is swapping the blend door actuator because of its location. It's mostly just wiring and bolt in junkyard parts.
