cluster help/temp guage

cluster help/temp guage
Just put in a '01 Sport Trac cluster in my '96 Ranger,all works fine except the temp guage,it climbs to over heat and the check guage comes on,old cluster works fine......any ideas? could it be a bad temp guage or do I need to do more than "Plug n Play"?
