can i swap my cluster for a cluster with a rpm thing think its called a tach because i dont want all these lil guages everywere in my truck so i figured id ask if it would work if i got one for my 2000 xlt and if i took it to a dealership would they roll the miles to match mine?

 

yes. direct swap. odometer is a easy swap. I rolled mine using a how-to from rps, i'll see if i can find it.

Take your time with it. You don't HAVE to roll your odo. Just swap over the odometer from your current gauges.

Follow that how-to, to remove your odometer gauge from the cluster, then do the same thing to the other cluster, and install the "correct"/old odometer to your new cluster. No messing around with accidently breaking your gears(i did that to one).

Basically, take the clear cover off, pop out the speedo panel, carefully take a knife or fork and remove the speedo needle, screw off the three 1/4" screws that hold the odometer in place to the face....do that twice. swap. reinstall.

Yes, that should be a straight bolt in.


The 2004+ clusters w/ electronic odo will not work in your Ranger.

I have a question about odometers. How do they keep turning? Mine stopped working when I pulled my cluster to swap in new bulbs. It did work for a little while and then just stopped. Now everything else works. Did I just screw it up by messing with it or what? If I have to I'll get a new gauge cluster but why do all that work to tear it apart to find out I screwed it up.
