Converting over to the 2008 headlight switch and the door switches

Hey guys,

I was at the salvage yard today and I came across the 2008 + headlight switch and the door switches and I was wondering how hard it would be to convert my 2004 switches.
I already have PW/PD/PM. I'm assuming that I would just need to swap out some electrical connectors, but you know what they say about assumming.

Are your connectors the same or have you not checked?

I'm 99% sure that my connectors are different and I haven't even looked at them yet.
They changed the 2006 + power mirror electrical connectors, so I'm pretty sure they changed these too.

If they have the same number of wires to each one. find out what wires are what and them put the new plug in place of your old plug.

Would be a nice mod to update the interior a bit.

One other thing I forgot to mention ... they use a different black cover that snaps onto the door panel but I don't believe the main door panel was changed.
Could someone with a 2008 + Ranger take some pics and help us out here?

I think you'll need more than just that piece. It looks like they bolt on differently... you might be able to make it work if you had the whole door panel and that parts that hold the panel on.

Nope ... you don't need the whole door panel
How come all the 2008 + Ranger owner are being stingy with their pics?

i've thought about this since i like the older ones that have a gap that goes from top to bottom and i don't think i can use them if the inner armrest support is different.

as for being stingy, i'm not about to take apart my door in this weather just for the cause. measuring fogs is a different story and i'd gladly do that for a member. as the level of difficulty is not as high.
i also do not have any on hand to upload.

why didn't you take a peak when you were at the JY?

Sounds like you need a garage ... lol
I didn't even see the door panels at the JR ... I guess they were buried under some stuff.
Come on all you 2008 + owners is it that damn hard to take a picture of your door panel?

I actually got that cluster and I'll let it go for $60 shipped or if you can track down a in-dash wiring harness for a 2004 Ranger 4X4 with the a 5-speed manual transmission and the power windows, door locks and power mirrors I'll let you have it for free.
I don't expect you to pay for the wiring harness, I just need someone to track one down for me. I literally called 22 salvage yards today and NOBODY had one like that.

Well, the salvage yards are weird around here. They actually have some really nice stuff that I don't really need. But, all the simple stuff that I really do need, they don't have it.
Go fig

if you grab those switches, how much do you want for them? haha I want to mod them with Blue LEDs so I can finish my interior, but I don't want to take mine apart and then have no windows or anything...or be on a deadline. We could possibly work out a deal that I'd send you mine when I'm finished with those?

Well, I'll make a deal with ya ... If you find me the wiring harness that I need I'll get you a
full length center console from the Tremor Rangers for free. I would just need you to pay shipping on the console.

Yes sir, I'd like to get some pictures your door panels and some pictures of your electrical connections coming from your wiring harness if it's not too much trouble.

not that it really matters but the headlight switch is 07+ and the door switches are 08+.. i just wanted to feel like i knew something for a minute. hahah :P but i feel like to switch the head light swtich will require changing the dash a little bit? i havent looked closely at the pre 07 switches that much. i know what they look like but i think since the 07+ is recessed into the dash it might not workk..

I'm pretty sure you're right. I think the older trucks just have a small hole where to **** goes on. I still don't see how these door bezels/switches are going to work on the older door panels, though. I'm hoping he's going to prove me wrong though because I've always wanted the 08+ switches!
