Discovered Mod
Hey guys I have posted this video because I discovered after doing a full dash and engine swap ( power doors/mirrors/windows ). I notice that after I also installed the white box behind the passenger airbag ( forgot what its called) that after I close my doors and push the power lock button door to lock position the 2 turn signal indicators and rear tails and liscense plate lights blink.
Now I assume it is the rangers security system RIGHT? Idk you tell me. take a look at the video. may I mined you that after the swap the red light that I use to get on my cluster no longer blinks or seen.
does the security light have a bulb? lmk if i could change it?

Same here. Also if a door is open and I lock the truck with the fob they will blink and the horn makes two short chirps. And when I hit the lock button a second time with in a few seconds all of my parking lights will flash and the horn chirps.

It's an 01+ thing.
2001fordranger, if your lights flash every time you close a door, something isn't wired properly. The white box behind the passenger airbag is the CSM or Central Security Module.

Wrong I did not say it does this everytime I close my doors. I said if I close my doors and use my key to lock the drivers door it does not do this. But if i mesh down and lock the power lock button to lock the doors before I get out of the ranger ; its then when i close the door that this happens.
Its no different than when you use you keyfob to lock it. and nothing wired wrong trust me. How can something be wired wrong when all I did was swap a dash harness and swap a engine harness. took it to the my electrical mechanic this morning to check it out; he retire from FORD and he saids wow you did good. everything is normal .
What are you jealous...... Nah just kidding... I happy with it

that sounds normal. my '01 XLT does that, too. also, if you hit the "lock" button on the armrest before closing the door (instead of using the key fob), the lights will blink to indicate that the anti-theft system is armed, as soon as you close the door.
now, on mine, using the key fob:
. if I click the lock button once, the doors lock
. if I click the lock button a second time (within ~ 5 sec), the lights flash and the horn honks
. if I click the lock button a third time (within ~ 5 sec), the lights flash and horn honks again, and the windows (if down) will automatically roll up.
