For the guys with Explorer white cluster & a manual transmission

If you have a manual transmission and have installed a white faced Explorer gauge cluster, what did you do with the shift indicator? I need to do something with mine now that I have a manual trasmission...

Pictures would be nice...

or if you don't have a manual and you have an idea what to do.....

I have a manual and slapped in the Sport Trac gauges.
The shift indicator spot just had a black plastic cover piece. I guess that's removed for the automatics.

I take it your looking to get your hands on that plastic cover then?

just get a white piece of paper, put scotch tape over it for the texture and to keep it from "staining" and changing colors over time, then lift up the white part of the cluster and tape it behind it.

it looks good, from a distance (passenger seat) you can't even see it, unless my indigo overlay is on, then its just part of it that doesn't glow.

I just did mine about a month or two ago.
My White Explorer Gages came out of an Auto, and i swapped it into my Manual ranger.

There is just a rectangular unit that has the (3, 2, D, R, P) on it, and it has a shift cable, they easily slide right off the gauge cluster.

Then i took the black one off my manual (solid black piece) and put it in place where the Automatic one was located. Looks great, very easy swap.

Just found some pictures on the computer from when i did mine

Stock (obviously)

Side by Side Comparrison - Notice the Auto Display and Manual Display are removed.

This is the Explorer Swapped in with the manual piece reinserted.

So you should be able to put a piece of plastic or anything inside the "hole" to fill it with white or black or whatever color you see fit.

Hope this helps
