Headliner Repair

The cloth on my 04 headliner is peeling away at the front by the windshield. The rest of it is in perfect shape. Is there any way to repair this without taking the entire headliner panel off? If I need to remove the headliner to repair it, what other stuff needs to be removed before the headliner will come off? Thank you.

no real way to repair it. the foam starts rotting and the material starts sagging/dropping. everyone wants us to reglue it, but the material is so thin that the glue bleeds right through. if you want to wait to get the headliner recovered, thumb tacks or even a stapler is the best alternative to keeping it up in place. but this is just the start of it. within 12 months, the rest will start doing the same thing.

Thanks for the info. You are correct in that the foam appears real brittle at the end. Bummer.

average live of a headliner is 8-10 years, depending on a lot of different things. the edges that get a lot of sun exposure will be the first to start going.

i recovered the a-pillars in my wife's car 4 years ago, and they are needing to be done again. i'm sure the material i used was sitting around the shop for a couple years (a light blue that barely gets used) so that didn't help any.

if you can deal with it for now, toss a couple staples in it. they won't be very noticeable up on the front edge. then when time/money/etc is right, get it redone.
