How to Remove Rear Jump Seats
How to Remove Rear Jump Seats
I've been searching, but haven't found an answer. I want to remove my (2) rear jump seats from my '01 XLT. I can see one of the mounting bolts if I look down into the seat, but there must be another one that I can't locate. Where might it be? In addition, how does one remove the plastic trim surrounding the side/front at the bottom? Does that pull straight off or does it need to be lifted off?
Yeah the plastic needs to come off..........there should be a round push pin thing(i have a good vocabulary) that holds the top part plastic on. Then the plastic just pops off. Once you get the plastic off you will see the bolts. I think you need a torx socket to get two of the bolts off.
They pull out not up..........mine have these round pins (they are plastic also). I had to pull those out first. If yours has them in it, you will be able to see them they are like 1.5 inch round. They stick out cause the plastic is all one piece except for those.

3 underneath each jumpseat and 2 on the side (one of which is a t-45)
I haven't attempted to remove mine yet, however it doesn't appear the carpet goes all the way to the back wall. I'll leave them in until I find a way to clean that up a bit. I think it will look like crap just removing the seats and not "doctoring" it up some how.

my carpet was cut around the seat and just folded into place like flaps.
dunno what your plans with removing the seats, but if you are wanting it to look factory, replacing the carpets going to be a must-do (at least it would be for my truck).
