HVAC LED swap with Oznium strips

Note: this is for a 2007 HVAC cluster.

I used the blue oznium strips. I used approximately 15 inches of the 3 feet that i ordered. I used this much because i went around the inside edge of the gauge cluster. I wasnt sure if i could place them flat inside because of the clear plastic piece inside, so i wasnt sure if it would be pushing against the LED strips. I think it turned out great, and it was extremely easy. I had never soldered before in my life, so do NOT be intimidated.

Heres some pics of my process

The green piece inside the ***** needs to be taken out and the green wet sanded off

It's kinda hard to see it. I have a cheap camera.

My first time soldering. Not the cleanest, but the hold on the wires are strong.

I am extremely happy with how this turned out. Thanks to JP7 for recommending these Oznium strips.

Phenomenal job with a great product. It is so easy doing a mod like this when you have the right parts =)

One thing - try and use the "macro" focus if you have it on your camera, it comes out great with those close detailed shots.

Not much else to say here, the mod is perfect - nothing else to add.

Next step - the Cluster!

Oh trust me i cant wait! i will see if i have time this weekend. The truck is being taken to the dealership because my passenger window is loose. It makes weird noises going up and down, and the window itself moves around easily when you push/pull with your hands.

I really think there is a good bit of value in buying a cluster to "learn" with - Ask Cam about this. Also I think my video's on the cluster will help you get things apart smoothly.

I'm always here to help.

Do what the Evo/STi guys do with an EBC - Flush mount in into the dash so it looks like part of the stock dash.

If it's anything like mine that's below the cluster as part of the switch, it's a mear light bulb change. err...LED change.

How bright are these if they were eye level? I wouldn't mind doing this to my GT, but the HVAC controls are higher up on the dash. Also, when you turn the lights on, do they dim?

I have full LED dash. If an incandescent bulb is in the dimmer circuit anywhere, you can have full functionality of the dimmer switch with an LED dash. I do.

OOH...Alex. How come you just didn't get the Blue indicator *****??? They can be found in older rangers and taurus and windstars and explorers. I've got 'em...and i've probably got a few complete extra sets.

maybe i'm not understanding your question....

click on your parklamps, the dash lights up. After that, you are able to dim the dash IF and only IF you have an incandescent bulb in that circuit somewhere that relates to the dimmer switch. If not, you will be able to dim the dash, but not that much.
