installed my explorer ohc and domelight this weekend

heres some pics of my ohc and domelight that I finished up this weekend. Mounting the bracket and getting everything straight seemed harder than the wiring lol. I would like to thank John griggs and rwenzig for the writeups on installing the ohc, it helped me out a ton. Being that I have an 06, I could not find the vss wire at th sjb, so I did a search and found a post by rwenzig saying I could pick it up at the 4x4 module, worked out perfectly.

Looks pretty good. Does it say Ranger on the top middle of your windshield? If so, where did you get the sticker?

Thanks, and yes, it is a Ranger sticker, it came stock on the truck, I think it had something to do with the sport package.

oh, thats good to know, for some reason I just thought it was a sticker, I never looked at it that close I guess, to see the outline of the sticker, or if it was imbedded in the windshield,
thanks for the info.

My '07 would have had it... too bad the windshield was replaced with a non-Ford one before I bought it!

thank you, definitely a great mod, and satisfying too when you get it all hooked up and working, and I love having a place to put my glasses/sunglasses now.

Does it fit nice and flush with the headliner? I don't remember who but someone told me something was different on the newer trucks and they don't fit as well as the older trucks. Maybe I'm thinking of something else?

yeah, it fits real good, I had to keep adjusting the bracket until I got it right where I wanted it, but it was worth the effort, it looks like it belongs there.

"95"-"01", I believe, depending on the year, it will have a blue or green screen, also look for one with the garage door compartment and not the sunrrof model, as they have a different bracket, and are suppose to be harder to mount.

Thanks, yes do it. I love mine so far, and its a good way to impress all your freinds lol. The only downside to this mod so far, is my g/f is impressed too, so that means that she wants one in her car now and so far I cant find a site that has a how to for her car, and what vehicle to find an ohc from. this site is awesome for that kind of info, Ford Ranger owners rock

Thank you, I like the new domelight too, I know most people get them from a Stang/Taurus, but I couldnt find a good one, so I pulled the one from the same Expo as the Ohc, then I realized that alot of people seem to hate on them, like the light doesnt aim in the right spot or something, I dont get it, mine is perfect, the map lights aim at the steering wheel and the glove box.

Well, just make sure that you pull the bracket off, and as much of the wiring harness as you can get(the less wire you have to run the better) also the temp sensor, which should be behind the headlight on the driver side mounted to the frame. and then I just went to Wal Mart and got the wire in the Car audio section, it was cheap there, got about 40 ft of wire for about $6.00 and then some various wire connectors, electrical tape and thats about it. Oh I also had some of that wiring loom laying around and I ran the wires for the temp sensor through the engine bay in that wire loom to help protect the wires.

Nice install. Mine looks exactly like that, even the same colors. And the style of dome lamp works great in conjunction with the map lights in the OHC. They have different coverage areas in my truck. My dome lamp came from a Mustang, but looks exactly like yours. Are you going to put in lighted vanity mirrors or auto dimming mirror??

I use the visors a lot more that I thought that I would. My other vehicle had them, so I wanted them In the Ranger. It is an easy install, no cutting of the headliner is needed.
