Laptop in truck

So I got this cool GPS mapping sofware for my laptop today, and I want a way to mount it in the truck without it sliding around, etc. I know some of you have laptops mounted in your trucks so how did you do it?

Only other option really is putting it in the seat...Laptops weren't exactly meant to go anywhere in a vehicle lol

Or you could tear the laptop apart and build a carputer :)

yeah you dont want that thiing flying into your dash, thats for sure lol.. what about modding your armrest/console to be able to hold it, like the flip up middle armrest, you could some how modify it to where it cradles the laptop when the lid is flipped open.

I have a pretty trick setup.

I started with this.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Car-Laptop-Mount...QQcmdZViewItem

It is basically a few pieces of sprinkle/electrical pipe and the piece of plexyglass which you could buy at home depot/lowes. There might be $12 worth of parts in that "kit".
Its a good start it you don't feel like buying a large piece of plexyglass and cutting off a small piece.

I then bought a few pieces of pipe and another pipe mount. I drilled a hole in the pipe mount and bolted that to the floor at the seat bolt. and bolted the other to the shifter console. then used the other pieces of pipe to connect the two and a "T" fitting to mount the plexyglass to. I have a manual tranny so space was limited. I take out the plexyglass piece when i am not using it just to have a little more room.

It works. if you go this route loctite is your friend. My setup was very loose and the whole thing would move around some. I took all the piece apart and loctited the crap out of them and now is super heavy duty fixed in place.

Those kits on ebay were about $20 when i bought mine and i think i spent another like $10 on other stuff extra pipe, extra velcro and stuff. So for $30 and not really having the room with the stick in the way i am very happy with it.
