Attempted to install my OHC today but it didn't go as planned. I think i drilled the wiring spots needs to be closer to the windshield i have pics so i can get some help here. Wiring is the easy part for me i'm not concerned about that. Pedro said the hole i cut is too big if it is ill just fill it and suede the entire thing.

does the hole look too long?

99offroadrngr 02-08-2012 02:55 PM

It might be specially if you move it forward more.

see how the curve of the OHC goes up and over with the headliner

04RangerDave 02-08-2012 02:58 PM

if it's too long i do this

Kris03 02-08-2012 03:08 PM

how much is it off by? if you line it up right with the window like pedro is saying...how much of cut fabric is showing? wondering if maybe you could try and make or fabricate something to cover up the hole

04RangerDave 02-08-2012 03:20 PM

If its too big im gonna make a MDF plate and mount it too that and have it finished and be fine

Kris03 02-08-2012 03:22 PM

yea i agree..thatll look good.

98liftedranger 02-08-2012 11:03 PM

For real this time? Just buy a cheap ranger and then go raid Pedro's house and it will be a good looking truck.

Why would I raid his house? The parts are not there!

Scrambler82 02-09-2012 05:11 AM

Instead of MDF use a thin sheet of aluminum.
⅛ or 1/16 thick, it will form better to the headliner.
Cut the OD the same shape as the outside of the OHC but wider and longer.
Most hardware store sell something along this line, maybe thinner if it looks OK, your call.
You can paint the aluminum the same or close to the color of the head liner and after a while it will disappear.

Another thought would be to make a switch box at the end of the console, just big enough to cover the cut out and house some 4 or so switches, maybe a pwr port or something.

dixie_boysles 02-09-2012 05:20 AM

or just go to JY and get a new board and reupholster

A little OT but thank you for this link OP.

http://bmwe32.masscom.net/johan/head...headliner.html

I was going to/thinking of doing this to my mr2 if I could not find the factory grey for the headliner. So you just made me not have to search the net at all. (Favorite the link. Done.) Props to you kind sir.

I have a thought, if the liner is cut too long. Maybe Get a small piece of aluminmum plate or diamond plate and do a small switch pannel.
