Pic Request: Gauge locations other than A-pillar.....

please post up pics of your gauge locations besides the A-pillar pod.....i have the 2 on the A-pillar and i am going to be adding the single gauge pod to it also, but i am getting 4 gauges and need a spot to mount the other 3......

i am getting:

AutoMeter 2 1/16 Sport Comp gauges...
-water temp
-volt meter
-fuel level
-diff temp

i currently have:

AutoMeter 2 1/16 Sport Comp gauges...
-oil pressure
-tranny temp

i am going to have the oil pressure, water temp, and fuel level on the A-pillar............i was thinking about putting the other 3 in the air vents above the radio or in the pocket below the radio on my explorer console.....

my goal is to eliminate all the stock gauges and have 1 3" tach and 1 3" speedo in the dash in place of the stockers.......

any other ideas?

Bill rebola installed a Mustang gauge pod on his steering wheel column. There's also old school- install it on your hood.

I never thought of the single gauge pod. That's brilliant. It will allow 3 on your a-pillar? I'm gonna get some.

its been done. looks like poo tho.

dont they have some type of universal that mounts like where the visors are?

graniteguy 10-23-2006 10:47 AM

I'll have to look into that Zach. Hood or cowl mounted is the rout I plan to take on my oil pressure. Thats the last gauge I am looking for. This will give me volts, water temp, and oil pressure. I have a manual so tranny is not an issue.

look at this, kinda pricey though.

I am just waiting to see what bully dog comes out with, the monitor thing is suppose to read alot of settings. Guages may not be needed with that.

graniteguy 10-23-2006 10:57 AM

They have electronic devices now that plug into the obdII ports and give multiple readings for about $200. Kind of like the Outlook Monitors for diesels. Someone just got one on this forum.

Yup I did the mustang pod on mine. Its a five speed though so it worked alot better. Scott(Gay-Briel) bought one for a F150 and said that it might work on the Auto trucks. Not sure though, I have been meaning to talk to him about that.

how hard was that to install? was it just "bolt on" or did you have to modify the stock piece to fit it...

i saw yours Bill when you was here in July...

Here is an "in progress" picture of my double column pod setup. It is a combination of the Mustang and F150 pods. Definitely not bolt on. I was toying with this a couple of months ago but have been busy hacking on other things lately.

It is possible to combine the single and double Autometer pillar pods to create a triple but it is a compromise. The longer pod blocks the side window defroster on the bottom and interferes with sun visor operation at the top.

That is sweet, did you make that using the F150 automatc pod and a mustang pod. And before you instsall can you post some better pics of it.

no kidding.....

texasfan1000 10-24-2006 08:23 AM

are the wires/senders from the engine to the gauge long enought to go to the headliner above the rear view. might not look to bad with a 3 gauge cluster there. just throwing out ideas.

lifted97ranger 10-24-2006 08:27 AM

you can make the wires as long as they need to be........the gauges only come with pig tails on the back for the lights...you have to supply the sender wires............can't put them there cause i have a blue light above my rear view mirror....

easy-goin 10-24-2006 10:01 AM

don't know if this helps, but...

texasfan1000 10-24-2006 10:15 AM
