Radio Bezel Warranty....???

Ok guys...my radio bezel down near the station select buttons is actually pealing...there is some kind of "rubber like" coating on it, and it is flacking off. I am wondering if this is covered by the standard warranty? I bought my truck in December of 03, so still within the 3 year/36k one.

Any ideas? I won't even bring it up with my dealer, if it isn't covered. It's not a big deal, but it bothers me, and if I can get Ford to replace it...even better.

i didnt think they'd cover somethign liek that, but it can't hurt to try.

some people end up peeling the rest off and painting the bezel either black again, or they'll color match it to their trucks, or do something creative like that.. im just lettin ya know of some options in case the dealer says no deal on replacing it under warrenty.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I am leaning towards the fact that they will not replace...sorta like normal wear & tear......But like you said...it's worth a shot!!

I have an 03 and have had the shift boot and arm rest replaced and the floor mats replaced twice - all under waranty. For trim items like those and like your bezel, the dealer usually has to email photos to have them reviewed by Ford corporate and get approval before completing the repair under warranty.

IMO, worn tires, door dings and bed scratches are "normal wear and tear". Having paint or other coatings peeling within 3 years from new is not. Go for the warranty and don't take 'no' for an answer.

I notice my drivers side seatbelt is often wet after a heavy rain or today after washing
do you think this is a warranty issue Bob?

IMO, anything that is not specifically excluded is a warrantiable item. Clearly, a warranty is simply an incentive to buy and you are just playing the game by the manufacturer's rules when you take advantage of it. You paid for the 3/36 b-to-b coverage in the purchase price - sometimes you must be insistent but I say go for it.

I had my radio bezel replaced under warranty for the same exact reason you are having issues with yours. There is actually a Technical Service Bulletin out for peeling of the radio bezel for the rangers. Take it in, they should replace it under warranty.

They will warranty just about everything. I always use this, "I have bought my last 5 vehicles from you and I might have to look elsewhere next time" Trust me they will always take care of it for you. Plus I am personal friends with my Carsalesman, and a couple times he has gotten involved and made them warranty my stuff. The key is to play hardball, your not satisfied and thye want your return business, trust me they'll cave.
